Connections & Collaborations: Mezzotints by Holly Downing (Mahoney Gallery)

Herold Mahoney Library Gallery

Artist Holly Downing, a retired SRJC art instructor for 25 years, exhibits mezzotint engravings, an archaic printmaking technique which "connects" the artist with her historic precedents. The exhibit includes several handmade artist's books that were collaborations, or "connections" with letterpress printers Jack Stauffacher of San Francisco and Eric Johnson of Iota Press in Sebastopol, Los Angeles poet David St. John and photographs by Genevieve Barnhart of Sebastopol. In addition two of the books "connect" with other cultures and one is a visual "connection" of endangered environmental habitats.
