Libraries + ZTC Support

SRJC Libraries Supporting ZTC

We have carefully identified roles where SRJC Libraries can be unique contributors to the Zero Textbook Costs (ZTC) initiative without overlapping with the preexisting work of district- and state-wide initiatives.

For the Libraries, these roles are:

  • Including OER collections in Smart Search
  • Identifying ZTC-eligible ebook licenses
  • Providing student access to adopted ZTC materials
  • Referring faculty to OER/ZTC support

Including OER in smart Search

We provide seamless access to a collection of over 3,000 Open Educational Resources (OER) titles through Smart Search for faculty browsing and student use, even if a particular OER book is not yet adopted for a specific class.

Identifying ZTC-eligible eBook Licenses

We assist with the adoption of library-licensed eBooks as ZTC materials, specifically through identification of licensing options that allow for unlimited student access.

Providing Student access to Adopted ZTC materials

We provide easy student access to adopted OER and ZTC materials through our existing Textbooks on Reserve program.

Referring Faculty to OER/ZTC Support

We refer instructional faculty to existing ZTC supports inside and outside of SRJC that support the adoption of OER and ZTC materials.
