Indigenous Oak (All floors)

Bruce Johnson

The Doyle Library was built on an area of campus that was mostly temporary trailers, accommodating everything from classrooms to a copy center. Fortunately, only one significant tree was felled to make way. To honor it SRJC was fortunate to have Bruce Johnson, noted Sonoma County sculptor of wood and hammered copper, turn much of the tree into four large, free-form sculptures. One stands on each floor of the building. They are collectively known as "Indigenous Oak" and are located on all floors.
